Latino students who are learning English and pursuing their GEDs will soon get courses closer to home when Portland Community College expands to the New Columbia housing community in North Portland. Free classes offered through the Multicultural Academic Program will serve students 16 to 20. Students will learn math, social studies and science in Spanish and will be able to earn their GED in Spanish. Simultaneously, instructors will teach them to become proficient in English.
