The Camp Robinson- based GED Plus Program graduated their 10,000th recruit Friday during a graduation ceremony. The National Guard Bureau’s GED Plus Program allows students who didn’t earn their high school diploma to enroll to earn their degree while also undergoing academic training, military, science and physical conditioning in a basic training environment, supervised by drill sergeants.
Approximately 3,000 new recruits from Army National Guard units in all 50 states and 4 U.S. territories earned their GED through this program in 2010.
The ceremony Friday included a showing of “Citizen Soldier” music video by 3 Doors Down, the National Anthem, speakers and awards. Private Corey Blackwood was the 10,000th graduate recognized and Private Trujillo received a Peer Leadership Award. Source: todaysthv.com
